JAMCCAR Celebrates 35th Year with Its Community with Gratitude!!

CELEBRATING OVER THREE DECADES JAMCCAR CELEBRATES 35th YEAR WITH ITS COMMUNITY WITH GRATITUDE!!

ROCKLAND, NEW YORK – JULY 6, 2025 – The Jamaican Civic and Cultural Association of Rockland, Inc. (JAMCCAR) will celebrate its 35th Anniversary and commemorate Jamaica’s 63rd Year of Independence on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 7:00 PM at The Hilton Pearl River in Pearl River, New York. The elegant black-tie gala will be held under the distinguished patronage of the Consul General of Jamaica to New York, Alsion Wilson, and with Premier/Signature Sponsorship by Caribbean Food Delights.

The celebration will honor extraordinary community leaders, businesses and students. Among the esteemed community leaders and businesses honorees are: Hon. Michael Specht – Town Supervisor, Town of Ramapo, Sabrina Vargas-Greco – Rockland County Commissioner Of Jurors, Dr. Francis Pratt, President Emerita, Nyack NAACP, Donovan Wilson, President, Union Of Jamaican Alumni Associations (USA), Inc., M&T Bank, Corporate, and Humanitarian Award Recipient, Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center.

This year’s scholarship recipients and student honorees are: David Asamoah, Kayla Nelson, Sy’rai Pusey, Jayda Williams and Kayla Williams. Each will receive a scholarship for their academic excellence. Nialah Burke will receive the Vincent HoSang Family Foundation Entrepreneurship Scholarship Award.

Founding Member, and Co-President, Sonia Claire Tracey states, “The fact that JAMCCAR has endured is a testament to its commitment and service to the community and its ability to expand its mission. Let us note that it is not just our rich culture that defines us, but also the great collective and collaborative contributions of partnerships and for that we are grateful.”

The “Passion, Progress, Purpose” themed celebration promises to be spectacular with live entertainment by the Ekklipse Steel Band and the renowned Jamore Band.

Actress, Journalist and Producer, Sherri Pullum is the evening’s special guest and Mistress Of Ceremonies.

Co-President, Pat Chandler expressed, “I am most excited about celebrating our scholarship recipients, both past and present, with our members and partners. Honoring youth achievement is an integral part of JAMCCAR’s mission and legacy.”

Included in the celebration will be a Silent Auction, significant raffle prizes and a display and sale of Jamaican Art by artists Michael Escoffery, Paul Blackwood , Courtney Morgan, and Donna Ladson, some of whom will be in attendance.

Leading up to the festivities will be the FREE Annual Thanksgiving Service/Cultural gathering on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 4:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Madison Avenue in Spring Valley, New York.
