JAMCCAR to be honored by the entire Rockland County Legislature

ROCKLAND, NEW YORK – The Jamaican Civic and Cultural Association of Rockland, Inc. (JAMCCAR) proudly announces that it will once again be recognized by the Rockland County Legislature during the second annual observance of “JAMCCAR Day,” adistinguished honor celebrating the organization’s enduring impact and service throughout Rockland County.
This year’s recognition carries special significance, as the entire Rockland County Legislature has united in honoring JAMCCAR for its longstanding commitment to community service,cultural preservation, youth empowerment, scholarship initiatives, mentorship, and civic engagement.

The evening will also feature a special cultural performance by members of the Braata Singers, whose presentation will celebrate the rich traditions, music, and artistic heritage of Jamaica and the Caribbean, adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the evening’s proceedings.
In addition, Mrs. Ariel Bowen, Officer-in-Charge at the Consulate General of Jamaica in New York, will deliver Greetings on behalf of the Consulate, underscoring the strongrelationship between Jamaica’s diplomatic community and organizations such as JAMCCAR that continue to preserve and promote Jamaican culture throughout the diaspora.
For more than three decades, JAMCCAR has served as a pillar within Rockland County, creating programs and opportunities that uplift residents across generations. From scholarship awards and youth mentorship through the G.R.A.C.E. Program to cultural celebrations, health initiatives, disaster relief efforts, and community partnerships, the organization has remained dedicated to strengthening the fabric of the community while celebrating Jamaican heritage and Caribbean culture.
“This recognition is both humbling and deeply meaningful,” said JAMCCAR Co-Presidents Sonia (Claire) Tracey and Patricia Chandler in a joint statement. “To once again have a day proclaimed in JAMCCAR’s honor—and to have the full support of the entire Legislature this year—reflects the power of community, collaboration, and service. We are grateful to everyone who has supported our mission over the years and invite the community to celebrate this special occasion with us.”
